Cornerstone Series® Railroad YMCA Bunkhouse
A Versatile Building for City Scenes

Walthers introduces its new Cornerstone Series® Railroad YMCA Bunkhouse. Based on a typical early-1900s brick structure, this versatile HO Scale kit has dozens of uses on any post-1910 model railroad layout.

Fast Facts: Railroad YMCAs were a home away from home for many railroad workers. They were a program of the Young Men's Christian Association, an international organization that promoted the spiritual and mental improvement of young, working men. At many locations, railroads financed or constructed these facilities as bunkhouses for train crews and workers living away from home while on the road. Railroad YMCAs offered clean dormitory facilities, eateries, libraries, entertainment, spiritual education and a wholesome environment for traveling railroad employees. They were usually convenient to the train station or other railroad facilities.

Features: This easy-to-build Cornerstone Series kit is based on typical early 1900s city buildings. The brick structure captures the look and feel of a railroad YMCA in a downtown setting, but is also ideal for other uses. Banks, libraries, post offices, professional offices and municipal offices occupy similar buildings in cities across the continent. The structure also makes a great-looking administration building just inside the gates of steel mills, railroad yards and large industrial complexes. Features of the Railroad YMCA Bunkhouse kit include injection-molded plastic walls with detailed brickwork, a realistic entrance canopy, tall windows and decal signs for a variety of occupants.
