This classic design was invented in the United States, where the addition of the four-wheel lead truck helped steer the engine over rough track. Many of these older engines were eventually sold to shortlines and industrial roads, where they served for many years after being "retired." These historic models come fully assembled and are equipped with Magic Mate couplers, which can be used with horn-hook or knuckle-type couplers.
