There's nothing quite like a train to bring a nation together. An entrepreneur by the name of Ross Rowland Jr. shared a similar sentiment as America's bicentennial approached. Inspired by the 1947 Freedom Train, which traveled the country following World War II, the bicentennial American Freedom Train would visit all 48 contiguous United States between 1975 and 1976 as a traveling display of American artifacts and camaraderie. The tour would make stops in 140 communities, with Southern Pacific GS-4 locomotive #4449 leading the charge for much of the tour. As we approach America's semiquincentennial and the 50th anniversary of this momentous journey, Bachmann is delighted to bring the spirit of the American Freedom Train to HO scale with this limited-edition collectible train set. This set features a GS-4 4-8-4 Northern steam  locomotive with standard DC analog control, (but a factory-installed speaker makes upgrading to sound and DCC control easy when you're ready).
