2-Car Add-On Baggage/Mail Storage Car Set -- Santa Fe

The Kato Santa Fe El Capitan Coach and Storage Mail Car Set is a set of cars made to enlarge the El Capitan 10-Car Passenger Set making it similar to a peak-season consist. Second only to the Super Chief in importance, Santa Fe's El Capitan offered equally fast travel at more affordable coach fares. During busy traveling seasons such as the summer and some holiday periods the train operated with additional cars. Also, the train carried additional parcels and storage mail such as magazines. This two-car set includes a mail storage baggage car and an additional coach. These cars make it easy to add a consist based on post-1956 consist when the El Cap was re-equipped with new Hi-Level cars to provide maximum seating. Beginning in 1958 the unique train was later combined with the Super Chief during off-peak travel seasons. This 10-car train was typically hauled behind EMD F7sor Alco PA diesels.<
