50' Plug & Sliding Door Boxcar No Roofwalk - Ready to Run -- Denver & Rio Grande Western #63290 (Boxcar Red, Large Flying Grande)

This 50' standard boxcar with single door and no roofwalk is painted brown with black ends and aluminum roof. It bears the Rio Grande 'Action Road' logo in white and white lettering. It was built in June 1967 by General American Transportation Corp. and runs on Barber roller bearing trucks. This 100-car series has a combination 8' sliding door and 7' auxiliary plug door. Most of the Grande's combination-door cars were used in general service. The 15' total opening also made them adaptable for hauling wallboard and forest products. Cars are equipped with a 20} travel cushioned underframe.
