Alco C420 Phase I - Standard DC - Master(R) Silver -- Conrail #2072 (blue, white)

The C420s represents both low and high short hood phase 1 models. All low nose models on this run represent locomotives originally owned by Lehigh Valley. The LV C420s were transferred to Delaware & Hudson when Conrail was formed in 1976. LV 405 was later sold by the D&H but eventually returned to home territory in Scranton, PA and is now operating as Delaware-Lackawanna 405 in their attractive gray/white "corporate" scheme. All high short hood models on this run represent locomotives originally owned by the Long Island RR. The Long Island models are decorated in the later "MTA" blue & yellow paint scheme. When their lease expired in 1976, LI's phase 1 C420s were initially sent to storage on the Delaware & Hudson and Morristown & Erie railroads. Some were leased by the D&H for a short time in 1977 and operated in patched LI blue & yellow paint. All were eventually sold to various railroads throughout North America.
