Photo-etched brass sides for streamlined passenger cars. Window openings and grab iron holes are etched through, with additional etched details on the surface. Sides are undecorated and can be used with various passenger car core kits, sold separately. Comes with instructions. In April, 1941, eight U.S. railroads ordered a total of 119 essentially identical streamlined sleeping cars from Pullman-Standard as Plan 4099, Lot 6669. The cars were delivered in the spring of 1942. A summary of the operating roads, name series and quantities follows: Santa Fe - "Valley" (Blue-Whitewater) 26 cars Union Pacific - "American" (Ace-Woodland) 42 Southern Pacific - "American" (Canyon-Rose) for Overland Route 11 Southern Pacific - "Golden" (Canyon-Valley) for Golden State 6 Chicago & North Western - "American" (Beauty-Skies) 7 Illinois Central - "Land O' Strawberries", etc. 12 Rock Island - "Golden" (Banner-Terrace) 7 Missouri Pacific - "River" (Arkansas, etc.)
