Cryogenically Refrigerated Boxcar -- GATX Arcticar Demonstrator

Meet the refrigerated rail car of the future. These cars have no mechanical refrigeration units, but use carbon dioxide vapor and "snow" to keep their loads frozen in transit. Designed to meet the needs of high volume purchasers and producers of frozen foods, this big car measures 76' over the couplers and stands nearly 17' tall. They're now hard at work hauling frozen juice, metal, poultry, potatoes and more. Like the classic reefers of the steam era, they're finished in bold colorful schemes.
