Diesel BR V 160, Era III -- German Federal Railways (DB) - DC

In the original DB plans, the single-motor diesel locomotive of the construction series V 160 was only intended to supplement the diesel locomotive program. The 10 pre-series locomotives from 1960 and 1963 were followed by a total of 214 series machines between 1964 and 1968. This meant that, during the very popular era 3, the V 160 was the most important large diesel locomotive of the DB and an indispensable component of the rail traffic.
