Diesel Engine House -- Kit

Based on a Chicago & North Western prototype built about 1960, diesel engine houses were constructed at outlying terminals and smaller yards, replacing older and often worn-out roundhouses. The buildings provide secure storage for an assigned switcher, and many had a small locker room for the crew and storage for a few tools and supplies. The kit is made from laser-cut Strong Board and Bass Wood and includes laser-cut windows, doors, and trim all with peel-and stick backing for easy assembly and painting. Lead-free metal details including nonworking outdoor lights, smoke jacks two styles of roof vents and a heating oil tank are all included. The interior features laser-cut floors and bracing. The "office" annex can be omitted or moved to another location on the structure. The roof is also designed so it can be easily removed for access to your engine or to add additional interior details and lights (sold separately). Complete directions include photos and diagrams
