Diesel GE AC4400 Powered -- Kansas City Southern #2

Since its introduction in 1994, the General Electric AC4400CW has proven to be a best-seller. Packing an amazing 4,400 horsepower, these modern freight units are equipped with Alternating Current (AC) traction motors. While the locos resemble the earlier Dash 9-44CW, the distinguishing feature is a large box-like structure behind the left side of the cab. This houses the inverters that regulate AC power to the traction motors. The prototypes ride on three-axle hi-adhesion trucks and are equipped with the North American style safety cab. These models are detailed reproductions, which feature the correct style of high or low numberboards, along with two or three dynamic brake grids to match prototype orders. The models are prepainted and lettered. A variety of add-on details, including wire handrails, and complete assembly instructions are also included.
