This Kato N Scale EMD F7A diesel is based on one of the most widely used EMD Cab unit locomotives ever built. Over 2200 F7A units and 1400 cabless F7B units hauled freight and passenger runs beginning in 1949 into the 1970s and early 1980s. The 1,500-horsepower untis were versatile and could be found handling road freights and branchline locals, as well as passenger trains. Features of this diesel includes a detailed, injection-molded body, five-pole motor with dual flywheels, all-driver electrical pickup, heavy die cast metal chassis, fine decoration, directional LED headlights and Kato magnetic knuckle couplers.
