Product Information

Add a unique chapter of railroad history to your HO layout with these WalthersProto GP7 passenger service diesels! In 1949, EMD found exactly what railroads wanted in its new General Purpose diesel with the unveiling of the GP7. Santa Fe was among the buyers who found them an ideal choice for passenger service, equipped with high-speed gearing and a steam generator, along with larger capacity water tanks that required mounting the air tanks on the hood. Based on units from delivery in 1950 to repainting after 1960, railroad-specific features of these WalthersProto replicas include: Canvas type sunshades Steam generator and roof-mounted air tanks with piping Leslie A-200 air horn Short-hood forward operation Cab wind deflectors Bolted-style handrails 1200-gallon fuel tank with dual 600-gallon water tanks Other standard features include: Limited-Edition - one time run of these roadnumbers Improved
