EMD GP9 Phase II with Chopped Nose - ESU(R) Sound and DCC -- Milwaukee Road #970 (orange, black; Large Milwaukee Name, GP20 Nameplate)

PLEASE NOTE: When operating Walthers-branded DCC-equipped locomotives in DC mode, do not use powerpacks that exceed an 18V rating. This includes MRC 1300-series powerpacks, which have known issues with our decoders. WalthersMainline Phase II Chopped Nose GP9 is a must-have model for your 1960s and later diesel roster! Outwardly similar to the earlier GP7, and sharing the same boxy, no frills body with its high, short hood, minor production changes in the number and placement of louvers on locomotives built from 1955 to 1957 resulted in what modelers and railfans refer to as "phase two" GP9s. In the 1960s, many roads began rebuilding their GP9s as an affordable alternative to new equipment, and many were refitted with chopped short hoods to improve forward visibility. Like it's prototypes, many are still going strong today and the WalthersMainline Phase II GP9 with chopped nose is perfect power for any assignment and features: One time run of these roadnumber
