Based on the popular late-1970s, 2250-horsepower roads unit from GE, Atlas B23-7 features include a dual-flywheel-equipped five-pole skewed armature motor with a low friction mechanism, AccuMate(R) knuckle couplers and the following detail variations included as appropriate for each roadname: Fat or thin anticlimber, knuckle or button battery boxes, FB-2, AAR or Blomberg trucks, low or high nose, flat or protruding headlight and a two- or four-window cab. Other features include directional headlights, painted safety rails, blackened metal wheels and cab sunshade details.
