This Kato Alco PA1 diesel (and cables booster PB1) is based on classy passenger locomotives used from the 1940s into the 1970s. Features of this PA includes a detailed, injection-molded body, five-pole motor with dual flywheels, all-wheel electrical pickup, heavy die cast metal chassis, a lighting control board that can be swapped for a DCC decoder when you're ready (available separately), fine decoration, directional LED headlights and Kato magnetic knuckle couplers. Alco PA1 operated on railroads from coast to coast hauling notable passenger trains like the Santa Fe El Capitan and Chiefs, the 20th Century Limited and other NYC streamliners, the Broadway Limited and other PRR trains, and the EL used them occasionally on fast freights, so this N Scale model will look right at home on your late 1940s-and-later layout.
