EMD SD70AC w/Flared Radiators - Standard DC -- CSX #4797 (YN3, blue, yellow)

The Rapido Trains HO Scale EMD SD70MAC and SD70MACH are based on the groundbreaking locomotive which helped usher in a new era of motive power policies and orders. It was the first production AC traction freight locomotive in North America, with Burlington Northern receiving its first 9400 series units in late 1993. The key difference with AC traction motors is their higher durability compared to DC traction motors. AC motors do not burn out at low speeds from overheating, though they cost more than DC motors. The model features prototypically accurate details including multiple nose and cab variations (nose light, high headlight, gyralight); railroad and era-appropriate PTC antennas, where applicable; working headlights, ditchlights, and extra lights; magnetic knuckle couplers, directional headlights and red markers. These models require 22" or larger radius curves for reliable operation. These units feature a 21-pin DCC decoder interface for easy conversion.
