Heavyweight Coach-Baggage-Combine - Ready to Run -- Chessie Steam Special #2 (yellow, blue, vermillion, silver)

The Broadway Limited HO Scale Heavyweight Coach-Baggage-Combine is based on workhorse cars that housed two car types under one roof, offering efficiency by reducing one car from the train on lightly patronized routes. A common type was the coach-baggage, accommodating passengers and luggage. Often used on small trains and light branch lines in the later decline of passenger rail travel. Typically positioned at the front of the train consist, the car earned the term "head-end equipment," alongside locomotives and non-passenger units like the RPO (Railway Post Office) for mail transport. Combines, serving as coach-RPOs, placed the mail section ahead of passengers. For modelers of the 1920s to the 1960s, heavyweight passenger cars were also the norm behind steam and classic diesels. Into the postwar era heavyweights were common on secondary trains and could pinch-hit for similar streamlined cars. These detailed cars are the equipment modelers of the era need. They're loaded with detail inside and out, they feature lighted interiors for added interest and they ride on Pullman 2411 trucks. The Heavyweight Coach-Baggage-Combine is part of the line of Broadway Limited HO Scale passenger cars.
