Shoehorned into cramped city lots or alongside rural grain elevators and lumberyards, coal elevators like this were a common sight from the 1900s to the 1960s. Receiving different sizes of coal by hopper, gondola or boxcar, the structure housed lifting machinery and storage bins, which kept the coal dry and made for faster loading of trucks and wagons by gravity.
Based on an actual prototype, the kit features laser-cut and etched walls, along with laser-cut brackets, windows, doors and trim with peel-and-stick backing for easy assembly and painting, along with 3-D peel-and stick shingles. Photos and drawings are included in the assembly instructions for easy construction.
